The Sociology and Anthropology Department of Linfield University in McMinnville, Oregon, seeks applicants for a tenure-track position in Sociology at the Assistant Professor level who is committed to the advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Responsibilities will include teaching courses in the Sociology and Anthropology Department based on the candidate's experience and expertise. In addition to scholarly credentials, we are looking for candidates who have enthusiasm for teaching, research, advising, supervising, and mentoring undergraduate students. We are interested in candidates who will complement the department's current course offerings and research areas of, but not exclusive to, Latinos and Latinas in the US; Mexico and Central America; Social Movements and Social Justice; and Crime, Deviance, and Social Control. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach a wide range of undergraduate courses in sociology (approximately 5 courses per academic year)
  • Assist students as an advisor in academic and career planning
  • Engage professionally (through research and/or other professional activities)
  • Perform the normal responsibilities of a faculty member at a liberal arts institution, including service to the Department/College/University

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ph.D. in Sociology by August 15, 2022
  • Demonstrated teaching effectiveness
  • Demonstrated professional engagement/achievement
  • A commitment to experiential/engaged learning
  • Teaching and research experience that engages theoretical and empirical work in the areas of, but not exclusive to, Latinos and Latinas in the US; Mexico and Central America; Social Movements and Social Justice; and Crime, Deviance, and Social Control
