Adjunct - Violin and Viola

The Linfield University Department of Music seeks applications for an Adjunct Instructor of Violin and Viola beginning in Fall 2023 semester.

Courses may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Applied Violin Lessons (Majors, Minors, and Non-Majors)
  • Applied Viola Lessons (Majors, Minors, and Non-Majors)
  • Ensemble instruction
  • Music History
  • Musicianship (Theory, Ear training, Sight-Singing, Basic Keyboard Skills)

The ideal candidate will promote reading notated music and improvisation. The candidate should also show familiarity with moveable Do Solfège and the Takadimi system of Rhythmic Solfège. Compensation will be determined by experience in the applied area. Courses will be taught on our McMinnville campus from August 2023 through May 2024.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Music Performance, or related field
  • Five or more years of experience teaching applied Music lessons
  • Familiarity with diverse Musical styles
  • Experience working with students of all skill levels
  • Experience performing in and leading popular Music ensembles

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Earned Doctorate in Music Performance, or related field
  • Familiarity with a variety of musical styles and genres
  • Performance experience in contemporary music ensemble; if interest and experience align, you may be invited to perform with the Lacroute Collaborative Music Ensemble
