Assistant Professor of Human Performance

The Department of Health, Human Performance, and Athletics invites applications for a tenured track Assistant Professor of Human Performance beginning Fall Semester 2017.  The successful candidate will teach two sections of kinesiology, one section of applied biomechanics of sport and exercise as well as several concomitants labs; and other appropriate courses as determined by the department chair.  A review of applications begins immediately.  Applications will be accepted through March 31, 2017.

Responsibilities:         

  • Teach a range of undergraduate human performance courses, with an emphasis on biomechanics and kinesiology each semester.
  • Assist students as advisor in academic and career planning.
  • Maintain research program or otherwise pursue professional achievement beyond teaching and community service.
  • Perform the normal responsibilities of a faculty member at a liberal arts college, including helping with student recruitment

Required Qualifications:                     

  • Ph.D. (ABD considered) in Human Performance, Kinesiology, Exercise science, or related field required.
  • Expertise in teaching biomechanics. A secondary expertise in exercise physiology, strength and conditioning, motor learning, research methods or related areas is preferred.
  • Experience teaching, supervising, and preparing human performance laboratories required.
  • Evidence of successful college/university level teaching experience required and work in the field preferred.
  • Ability to relate well to colleagues, students, and staff in a small college.
