ELC Coordinator

The Linfield-Good Samaritan School of Nursing located in NW Portland is recruiting for an Experiential Learning Center (ELC) Coordinator. The Experiential Learning Center Coordinator provides assistance and support to the ELC Director to ensure the efficient functioning and coordination of activities in the various nursing labs. Lab complexity ranges from fundamentals through chronic and acute care level. The School of Nursing enrolls approximately 400 students each year. Screening of applications begins immediately. 

Work Schedule:

Typically, Monday Friday 8:00am 5:00pm

RESPONSIBILITIES:    

  • In collaboration with the ELC Director and IEL Coordinators, implement clinical low-mid fidelity simulation lab staging, set-ups, and take-downs.
  • Cross-train and participate as needed in high fidelity lab simulation operations, including scenario set-ups, take-downs, camera operations, client voice, and standardized client
  • Participate in student performance evaluations by setting up/cleaning up scenarios, serving as scenario client, and serving as a skill
  • Grade student assignments related to lab
  • Substitute as clinical lab instructor as
  • Provide individual clinical skills instruction for students via demonstration, video, or other techniques as
  • Manage and direct open labs which provide direct instruction and student-to-student peer mentoring opportunities for
  • Provide, set up, and receive back supplies and equipment loaned out to students and faculty for out-of-lab experiences and
  • Meet with faculty and course coordinators to plan lab activities and promote consistency among lab group experiences as directed by the ELC
  • Assist ELC Director with certification and screening requirements for faculty and
  • Supervise student employees while they perform duties such as lab set-up or take down, student mentoring, filing, organizing and other duties as
  • Teach and assist faculty in all aspects of laboratory teaching, including equipment use and lab station
  • Assist ELC Director in coordinating activities in all nursing
  • Consult with ELC Director and faculty members in planning and implementation of labs and grant-funded projects in electronic health records and low-mid-high fidelity
  • Provide information to and teach students about lab safety and department policies, provide safety training to student employees, determine needed safety equipment, and ensure safety equipment is maintained in proper working
  • Maintain inventory levels of supplies and equipment, order supplies as Obtain bids for large purchases as directed by the ELC Director. Participate in non-budgeted procurement of supplies and equipment.
  • Distribute and maintain MSD sheets for hazardous chemicals within the
  • Review and update Standard Operating Procedures for nursing
  • Troubleshoot damaged
  • Coordinate the repair and service of equipment assets.

Minimum Qualifications:

BS in Nursing and two years of clinical nursing experience and licensure as a Registered Nurse in Oregon, or an equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating:

  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in Oregon.
  • Clinical nursing experience (Medical-Surgical experience especially helpful).
  • Mentoring and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
