POSITION:                                           Lacroute Scholar Visiting Artist - Digital Art

                                                          Location - McMinnville campus

STARTING DATE:                       February 2020

RANK:                                     Visiting (non-tenure-track)

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Help develop and deliver a dynamic undergraduate curriculum in the digital arts to a variety of students: majors, minors and general education.
  • Teach undergraduate courses at all levels and competencies, from foundation to capstone courses, in digital and studio art and other courses in the visual arts as assigned by the Department Chair
  • Work collaboratively with the Art Department Chair and the studio and digital art faculty
  • Mentor students pursuing a major in digital art
  • Conduct meaningful, rigorous and constructive critique with students at all levels (preferably informed by the visual arts as an interdisciplinary component of an integrative liberal arts education
  • Serve as a member of the Lacroute Initiative Steering Committee and collaborate with other Lacroute Scholars to plan campus events and activities in support of the Initiative.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MFA (preferred) or PhD in Digital Art or related field
  • Evidence of successful college/university level teaching experience and work in the field
  • Demonstrated successful experience working with undergraduate art students inside and outside of the art classroom
  • Evidence of ongoing, professional practice as a digital artist

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MFA in Digital Art or related field
  • Evidence of developing and delivering a student-centered pedagogy in the digital arts
  • Capacity for conducting critique at all levels of an undergraduate art program: from foundation to capstone courses
  • Willingness to organize the public display of student work at least once for each course taught
  • Experience teaching other foundational level courses, especially in 2D design and related studio and digital art coursework
