Nursing - Clinical Associate

Linfield College's School of Nursing located in NW Portland is currently recruiting for a Clinical Associate.  The Clinical Associate is a 12-month position that provides instruction to Linfield nursing students at assigned clinical sites and offers clinical nursing instruction in the Experiential Learning Center (ELC) located on the Portland campus.  The Clinical Associate partners closely with faculty, staff and faculty coordinators.  The School of Nursing enrolls approximately 400 students each year.  A review of applications begins immediately.  The position will close on April 1, 2017. 

Work Schedule:  Monday Friday   8:00am 5:00pm.  Flexibility is required to accommodate occasional off scheduled work hours. 

Responsibilities:

  • Provides oversight, instruction and feedback to students in assigned clinical sites and ELC ensuring demonstration of core competencies.
  • Participates in the development of applicable instructional materials.
  • Assists students with interpreting and understanding instructions and written or verbal feedback.
  • Meets with students outside of the laboratory/classroom setting.
  • Conducts formative and summative clinical evaluations with students in fact-to-face conferences. Works collaboratively with all faculty and staff. Participates in Semester Team and School of Nursing Community meetings.
  • Maintains professional relationships with clinical partners.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean of Nursing or designee

Qualifications:

Master's degree in nursing and three years of experience as a Registered Nurse; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Licensing Requirements: Unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse in Oregon.

Demonstrated skills:

  • Instructing students;
  • Evaluating student performance;
  • Using a computer and related software applications;
  • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Knowledge of:

  • Clinical nursing environment;
  • Nursing clinical skills learning laboratory equipment and materials;
  • Student evaluation methods;
  • Computers and related software applications;
  • Teaching principles and practices.

Other Requirements:

  • The Clinical Associate position is not eligible for rank, tenure, promotion or sabbatical.
  • Reappointment is based on yearly evaluation of teaching effective by the Dean and the needs of the department
  • The Clinical Associate is expected to take time off/vacation time when school is not in session.
