One-year Visiting Assistant Professor of Education

The Education Department is recruiting for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor of Education / ESOL position. The Visiting Assistant Professor will be responsible to teaching courses in the English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) endorsement program and a variety of other teacher education courses, as well as supervising student teachers during their practicum experiences. The ideal candidate must have enthusiasm for teaching and supervising undergraduate preservice teachers.   This full-time position scheduled to start in August 2018 and end in June 2019. Instruction Responsibilities:  

The Visiting Assistant Professor's primary responsibilities includes:

  • Teaching ESOL Teacher Education courses and general Teacher Education courses
  • Supervising ESOL student teachers during their part and full time student teaching experiences
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships within the Education Department and local schools

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Education or related field
  • ESOL, TESOL, or related certification
  • Minimum of three years teaching experience in grades K-12
  • Ability to relate well to colleagues, students, and staff in a small liberal arts college
  • Teaching that demonstrates a commitment to diversity as defined by the Linfield College diversity statement: Linfield College honors human rights and academic freedom, celebrates diverse cultures, fosters a climate of mutual respect, and promotes an inclusive environment that affirms the value of all persons

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD, EdD, or ABD in Education or related field
  • Evidence of expertise in teaching ESOL teacher education
  • Evidence of expertise in general teacher education courses
  • Evidence of ability to collaborate with faculty within the Education Department and P-12 teachers and administrators
  • Evidence of excellent teaching at the post-secondary college level in the US and/or abroad
