Visiting Professor Psychology
The Department of Psychology at Linfield College invites applications for a one-year position as a Visiting Professor of Psychology beginning Fall Semester 2017. The department is looking for an individual with a Ph.D. in psychology (ABD will be considered) with specialization in cognitive or biopsychology psychology. The selected individual will be responsible for teaching six classes across two semesters and for coordination of work-study personnel. In addition, the selected individual will have the opportunity to engage in research with faculty and students in the department. The successful applicant should have a strong desire to teach in a liberal arts setting, including involving students in research. A review of applicants will begin immediately. Applications will be accepted through March 31, 2017.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Visiting Professor's primary responsibilities are listed below.
- Teach six courses in Psychology, including holding regular office hours and conducting end-of-the-semester assessment.
- Coordinate work-study student personnel including screening/hiring student workers, providing an orientation and training, providing close supervision to ensure professionalism of workers, and tracking and reporting hours to Human Resources.
- Collaborating on research with other members of the department or independently.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Ph.D. in psychology: area preference is cognition and biological psychology (ABD will be considered)
- Strong desire to teach in a liberal arts setting, including involving students in research.
- Evidence of teaching experience in Psychology, with a preference for candidates who have taught an introductory-level survey course and/or research methods course in the past.
